Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to https://kefir-connect.org. This website is run by Center Synergy of Systems (SynoSys) at Dresden University of Technology.

SynoSys is committed to making its websites and mobile applications accessible, in accordance with "Website Accessibility Act" BfWebG (Barrierefreie-Websites-Gesetz) and the "Accessible IT Ordinance" BITV 2.0 (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung), implementing EU Directive 2016/2102.

Preparation of this Accessibility Statement

This statement was prepared on June 22, 2026 and last reviewed on June 22, 2026. It is based on a self-assessment of the platform carried out by the project team.

Compliance Status

Due to the exceptions listed below, this website is partially compliant with the requirements of the Website Accessibility Act (BfWebG) in conjunction with BITV 2.0.

A full, independent BITV test has not yet been carried out. It is planned following the launch of the platform. The list below is therefore based on our own assessment (self-evaluation).

Non-accessible content

The following areas are currently not accessible or only partially accessible. We are working on improvements:

  • Interactive map: The map for exploring the kefir network can only be operated to a limited extent using a keyboard and cannot be used meaningfully with screen readers. There is currently no equivalent text-based alternative for the information shown on the map.
  • Registering a culture via the map: When registering a water kefir culture, the location is set by clicking on the map. An alternative, non-map-based input method is not currently available.
  • Cropping images: Selecting an image is possible via keyboard, but positioning the crop area is only possible using a mouse or touch. Uploading a photo is optional.
  • Color contrast in individual cases: In a few places (for example, light text over photos in a culture's detail view), the color contrast may be insufficient.

We are reviewing accessible alternatives for these areas and are remedying the barriers step by step.
